Take a Pill

lyrics

I can see you sitting in your favorite chair
got your sweatpants on and your feet in the air
a soda from yesterday sits by your side
the ring on the table is starting to dry

The phone starts to ring but you're not getting up
a voice from your job makes you want to throw up
the only thing willing to move is your thumb
up the stations it goes one by one

Nothing is on but you're not giving up
you try them all over again just for luck
now is the third or fourth time you've been through
finally you're stopping, look what's coming through

A person on TV is sick just like you
their symptoms are too close to yours to be true
a stiff back, a stiff neck and pain everywhere
a general feeling of going nowhere

another one says she was feeling the same
and up to one moment just maybe insane
but then she discovered a little white pill
and somehow she found a resolve a new will
a new way of looking at life, a new day
a new job, a new fortune,
a perfect man who wasn't even gay
the host looks so nice and smiles a sweet smile
while stories of satisfied customers pile.

Take a pill...

An 800 number goes up on the screen
another young guy tells us how low he's been
but now he is climbing back out of his rut
he's got a girl with him who looks like a slut

An elderly couple discuss how his pain
was holding them back from any personal gain
He used to work at Publix bagging groceries
their only hope was buying tickets for the lotteries
but then he discovered that amazing new pill
it took him out of his valley and up the next hill
The company they started just went public this year
the money is rolling in and their lives are in gear

Take a pill...
